Intumescent Coatings Applications

Fire protection with carbon fiber reinforced composites has advanced significantly in recent years. ZOLTEK has developed the PX30 Scrim Fabric to meet the high standards required for industry-leading intumescent coating applications. This high-temperature resistant carbon mesh is coated with a flame-resistant material, making it easy to handle and install as a lightweight reinforcement in intumescent coatings for the oil and gas and jet fuel handling markets.

ZOLTEK carbon fiber is widely used in the oil and gas, aerospace, automotive, and civil engineering industries. Intumescent coatings engineered with ZOLTEK carbon fiber provide efficient protection from extreme heat and chemically abrasive environments. ZOLTEK’s PX30 Scrim Fabric positively impacts factors such as mass loss, time-to-ignition, specific mass loss rate, thermal response parameters, and gasification heat. This makes it the ideal material for most carbon fiber reinforced polymers.

Intumescent Coatings Products

PX30 Scrim Fabrics – ZOLTEK PX30 coated carbonized scrim is a plain leno weave fabric made from 100% ZOLTEK OX spun yarns. This scrim undergoes a high-temperature carbonization process, resulting in a high-purity (>99% carbon) mesh material. The mesh is then coated with a flame-resistant material, making it easy to handle and install as a lightweight reinforcement in intumescent coating applications for the oil and gas and jet fuel handling markets.
