ZOLTEK OX is our oxidized PAN fiber that is inherently flame resistant, which makes it an effective heat-blocking and fire barrier material. The largest application for this product is the aircraft brake market, where it holds the dominant position in the marketplace. We have produced these oxidized technical fibers for over 20 years, allowing us to fine tune our process and become the largest oxidized PAN fiber producer in the world.
When put to the test, ZOLTEK OX outperforms the competition (see brochure below). It retains its appearance, hand and textile characteristics after open flame exposure. And unlike other fiber, ZOLTEK OX fibers do not burn, melt, or drip. Instead, they char and self-extinguish.
ZOLTEK OX Continuous Tow fibers are oxidized / stabilized PAN fibers (OPAN) that are inherently fire resistant, thermally stable, exhibit excellent resistance to chemicals and solvents and are electrically nonconductive. Available crimped or uncrimped, ZOLTEK OX continuous tow is suitable for stretch breaking into yarn, milling into pulp, chopping into short fibers or crimping & cutting into staple fibers for nonwoven or yarn spinning.
ZOLTEK OX Staple Fibers are oxidized / stabilized PAN fibers (OPAN) that are inherently fire resistant, thermally stable, exhibit excellent resistance to chemicals and solvents and are electrically nonconductive. Available in three denier sizes and various cut lengths, ZOLTEK OX staple fibers produce the highest quality nonwoven fabrics and the finest spun yarns on the market today.
ZOLTEK’s Needlepunched Felts are produced from ZOLTEK OX oxidized PAN fibers and later carbonized to 99% carbon content in our vacuum furnaces. Current applications include filtration media in high temperature and/or corrosive environments and energy storage. The unique properties of our ZOLTEK PX30 carbon felts are optimal for complex thermal, corrosive or conductive applications.
ZOLTEK OX yarns are spun yarns manufactured from our continuous tow. ZOLTEK OX yarns are inherently fire resistant, thermally stable, electrically nonconductive and exhibit excellent resistance to chemicals and solvents.
