heat resistant materialsZOLTEK™ OX is our oxidized PAN fiber that is inherently flame resistant, which makes it an effective heat-blocking and fire barrier material. The largest application for this product is the aircraft brake market, where it holds the dominant position in the marketplace. We have produced these oxidized technical fibers for over 20 years, allowing us to fine tune our process and become the largest oxidized PAN fiber producer in the world.

When put to the test, ZOLTEK™ OX outperforms the competition (see brochure below). It retains its appearance, hand and textile characteristics after open flame exposure. And unlike other fiber, ZOLTEK™ OX fibers do not burn, melt, or drip. Instead, they char and self-extinguish.

ZOLTEK™ OX Continuous Tow fibers are oxidized / stabilized PAN fibers (OPAN) that are inherently fire resistant, thermally stable, exhibit excellent resistance to chemicals and solvents and are electrically nonconductive. Available crimped or uncrimped, ZOLTEK™ OX continuous tow is suitable for stretch breaking into yarn, milling into pulp, chopping into short fibers or crimping & cutting into staple fibers for nonwoven or yarn spinning.

Current applications include filtration media in high temperature and/or corrosive environments and energy storage.
